Yemen : US steps up raids on al-Qaeda

The US military is carrying out an intense air campaign in southern Yemen. The strikes are targeting al-Qaeda fighters in three governorates - Abyan, al-Bayda and Shabwa.

    The strikes are targeting al-Qaeda fighters in three governorates - Abyan, al-Bayda and Shabwa.

    Separately, the UN's humanitarian chief is in the country appealing for more access to civilians caught in the conflict.
