Italian island marks shipwreck anniversary

Two years after the ship capsized off the island of Giglio, authorities commemorate the 32 passengers who died.

It’s the second anniversary of the Costa Concordia disaster. Nearly 32 people were killed when the cruise liner capsized off the coast of Giglio.

The island’s mayor says that it’s important to remember the tragedy, but he looks forward to putting it behind him.

Memorials have been taking place in Italy but – as Al Jazeera’sClaudio Lavanga reports – the Costa Concordia story is far from over.
