France on alert over terror threat
Army keeping vigil at famous landmarks as intelligence reports suggest attacks are likely.

Security has been tightened across France following warnings of possible attacks.

The Eiffel Tower in Paris has been evacuated several times in the last two months and on Thursday, Osama bin Laden released a tape threatening to kill French citizens kidnapped in Niger.

There are more than five million Muslims in France, and they already feel targeted by the police.

As Al Jazeera's Jacky Rowland reports, allegations that there are terrorists lurking in their midst could make the community feel more marginalised.
