Bulgarian Dream: German pensioners retiring abroad

A woman packs up everything in her beloved home in Germany to retire to Bulgaria where she can afford to live.

Like many other seniors in Germany, Petra receives an early retirement fund which is terribly low.

The costs of rent and utilities leave her with approximately 100 euros ($120) a month for food and other expenses – barely enough to get by in a city as expensive as Hamburg.

Refusing to accept such circumstances, she decides to leave everything behind and move to eastern Europe for early retirement. She is part of a new generation of seniors who do not feel that life should be over just because you are growing old.
