Tim Friend has been a reporter since 1969. He worked on newspapers in Britain before moving to broadcasting on radio and television. He has previously been on the staff at the BBC, ITN and Sky News, but has now freelanced for many years. He is a regular contributor to Al Jazeera, mainly covering Europe.
