rime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday he would seek an early Israeli parliamentary election in four months, a ballot that opinion polls show his right-wing Likud party will win handily.

"It is preferable to have a short election campaign of four months that will swiftly return stability to the political ranks," Netanyahu said in a speech to a Likud convention.

Netanyahu did not provide a specific election date.
