The Russian city of Sochi has stepped up construction of venues and other facilities as it prepares to host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
But conservationists are concerned the building work is threatening endangered species surrounding the city - home to many protected plants and wildlife.
In protest the World Wide Fund for Nature, hired by Russia to advise constructors, has suspended its work on the project.
Al Jazeera's Neave Barker reports from Sochi.
