Strife in India’s Assam rooted in poverty
Lack of development and economic opportunities blamed for unrest pitting region’s ethnic groups against one another.

Security forces in India’s Assam state are still searching for fighters who killed dozens of villagers last week.
At least 72 people died and about 10,000 were displaced when violence erupted between ethnic Bodos and Adivasis.
However, as Al Jazeera’s Faiz Jamil reports from Assam’s Sonitpur district, the cycle of brutality goes back decades.
