France moves towards face-veil ban

Senate to approve bill after lower house overwhelmingly votes for new law.

    The French parliament's lower house has overwhelmingly approved a ban on the wearing of full face veils in public.

    The bill needs to be passed by the senate before it becomes law, but is facing little political resistance.
