Brazil artist paints faces on masks

Meet the Brazilian artist who paints impressively realistic faces on protective masks.

Brazilian artist Jorge Roriz has a solution for those who want to show their faces while wearing masks.

The 65-year-old is known locally for his paintings of the Rio de Janeiro Carnival but amid the coronavirus pandemic, he has found a new calling.

From a distance the personalised masks are convincing and close up the artistic detail is impressive.

There is no shortage of customers: “They find them [masks] funny and quirky,” Roriz said. “I had that response and suddenly people started to look for me to create a mask for them. I made this one, and since then I have not stopped making them.”
