NFL anthem protests: Trump wants players suspended

Donald Trump and US conservatives continue their campaign against athletes who seek to draw attention to the treatment of minority communities by kneeling during the US anthem.

US President Donald Trump has criticised American football players who refused to stand during the national anthem on the NFL’s first preseason game, saying they should stand or be suspended without pay.

The players say they want to draw attention to social injustices, but the NFL is under pressure to rein in the protests.
