Scandal sparks Ireland church-state debate
Roman Catholic Church under scrutiny following discovery of bodies of children under its care in mass grave.

Campaigners in Ireland have sought separation of church and the state after the government promised a full inquiry into the deaths of perhaps hundreds of children who were under the care of Catholic nuns.
The scandal involves the Roman Catholic Church which faces accusations of child neglect after a researcher found records for 796 young children believed to be buried in the grounds beside a former orphanage for the children of unwed mothers.
The scandal, many believe, may finally force the separation of church and state.
