One man’s shot at saving the Everglades

Clyde Butcher is one of North America‘s most celebrated natural work photographers, and his work has been credited with raising awareness of the Florida Everglades.

Conservation was not a priority for many in the 1980s when Butcher first moved to the Everglades. But over the decades his stunning black and white images of the so-called “river of grass” have helped change that.

The Everglades is the US’s third largest national park and often described as the most threatened. It has been drained, polluted and developed, but Butcher hopes his work will help preserve it.
