MH370 disaster prompts tracking demands

Demands are growing for airlines to improve the technology used to track their aeroplanes to precent another disaster on the scale of Malaysian flight MH370.

But with thousands of aircraft in the air, each producing a vast amount of data, experts believe any effective system would need to be selective.

Though rival satellite companies are already arguing over the cost and value of their competing systems, it is aviation authorities who will ultimately decide what sort of tracking is required.
