Soldiers deploy to state of Assam after 31 Muslims are shot dead, in worst religious violence incident in two years.

India has sent soldiers to the northeastern state of Assam after 31 Muslims were shot dead.

Women and children were among the victims. The killings are being blamed on local tribesmen who resent the presence of Muslim immigrants.

It’s being described as the worst incident of religious violence there in nearly two years.
