Yemen’s army sends reinforcements south

The army continues to battle al-Qaeda and is focusing on the group’s last stronghold in Shabwa province.

Yemen’s army has sent additional troops to the country’s south where fighting continues in al-Qaeda controlled towns.

Gains made by the army a week ago were reversed when fighters launched a surprise attack.

The army said it is now concentrating its efforts on Houta, the armed group’s last stronghold in Shabwa province.
