Armed guards protect herders in north Kenya

With scarce police presence causing rise in crime, growing number of tribes resort to arming themselves illegally.

Cattle raids, theft and fights over resources are common across much of the arid lands of northern Kenya. With the government failing to provide protection, many have resorted to arming themselves illegally.

Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports from Turkana, northern Kenya.
