Rio protests turn violent over fare hikes
Hundreds of protesters clash with police in Rio de Janeiro over increased fares for public transport.

Commuters have been caught up in violence at Rio de Janeiro’s main train station as protesters vented their anger over bus fare hikes, the same issue that ignited mass demonstrations last year.
The renewal of violence is causing concern in the run-up to Brazil’s hosting of the World Cup in June.
