Costa Rica drifts towards carbon-free future

Generating much of its electricity from renewable resources, country plans to become carbon-free.

Costa Rica is one of the most energy independent countries in the world, with almost all of its electricity being generated from renewable sources.

The country is home to the biggest wind farms in Latin America, which generate enough electricity for about 40,000 homes a month.

It is also planning more projects to become carbon-free within the next few years.
