Moscow deal adds fuel to Ukraine protests

Demonstrators urging Kiev to align with Europe are worried the economic agreement could presage union with Russia.

After weeks of opposition protests, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich has signed a deal with Russia designed to improve Ukraine’s economy.

The agreement has fuelled political tensions in Ukraine, where pro-EU demonstrators are angered by Yanukovich’s  decision to scrap a trade pact with the EU in favour of closer ties with Russia.

Al Jazeera’s Jennifer Glasse reports from Kiev, where the opposition is wondering what Moscow will expect in return for the new deal.
