US navy tests first unmanned drone

Future models of X-47B – designed to take off and land on aircraft carriers at sea – being armed seen as a possibility.

The US military’s controversial drone programme has been criticised for causing extensive civilian casualties, especially in Pakistan and Yemen. But now the US navy is testing its first drone.

The X-47B unmanned aerial drone is designed to make take-offs and landings aboard aircraft carriers at sea. And while it does not carry missiles, that does not mean it will not in the future.
