US Catholics divided over new-look Church

American Catholics will soon have a new leader. The US Conference of Catholic Bishops is meeting in Baltimore to elect a new president at a time when the Catholic Church is going through a lot of changes.

Most of those changes are coming straight from the Vatican as Pope Francis projects the image of a kinder, gentler Church. But some conservative believers say they feel abandoned because Francis has played down traditional hot-button issues such as abortion, same-sex marriage and contraception.
