S Korea seniors hold hope for Park presidency

New president’s pledges include more benefits for nation’s rapidly increasing elderly population.

Park Geun-Hye, the daughter of South Korea’s late military ruler, has been sworn in as the country’s first female president, promising a new era of economic revival.

But some people are concerned Park has made campaign promises she cannot afford to keep.

One of those pledges: Support for the elderly. In the city of Boryeong on the coast of the Yellow Sea, the ageing population says it needs more help from the government.
