As country opens up to outside world, neglected condition of thousands of sufferers is revealed.

Myanmar aids

As Myanmar opens up to the outside world, decades of neglect in areas such as HIV/AIDS treatment can no longer be hidden.

Of the 120,000 people living with HIV/AIDS in the country, less than 30,000 are believed to be receiving the medication they need.

About 20,000 people die each year as the virus spreads throughout families.
