Sudan’s sinking economy raises tensions

Labour union warns government against increases in 2013 budget as cost of living continues to soar.

Sudan has the worst performing economy in the world with inflation rates varying from 45 to 60 per cent, according to the International Monetary Fund.

This is causing a steep increase in the cost of living prices in the country.

The Sudanese labour union has warned the government against more increases in next year’s budget.

Al Jazeera’s Omar al-Saleh reports from the capital, Khartoum.
