‘Chilling’ at the bottom of the world

“Coldest Journey” will see veteran UK explorer Ranulph Fiennes head to Antarctica on climate change mission.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes is considered one of Britain’s greatest explorers, but at 68 you would forgive him for wanting to take it easy.

Instead, he will be literally ‘chilling’ on a six-month voyage across Antarctica in temperatures dropping below minus 90 Celsius.

Fiennes’ is a mission with a scientific puropose, to study the effects of climate change on the Antarctic’s ice.

Al Jazeera’s Simon MacGregor Wood reports from London.
