Swat Valley tribe fends off Pakistani Taliban

“Village Defence Force” aims to prevent more targeted attacks in northwestern province.

A tribal militia, called the “Village Defence Force”, has been set up to guard Pakistan’s Swat Valley from the Pakistani Taliban after the northwestern province was recently subjected to a number of attacks.

Residents of Swat Valley fear the Taliban are targeting their leaders to revenge army operations that drove them out of the province.
