The Hasabah area in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa was the scene of fierce clashes between security forces and fighters loyal to a powerful tribal chief opposed to president Ali Abdullah Saleh. Many people were killed and injured in the fighting.

Elsewhere in the capital, young activists continue to vent their frustrations with the government. They want the president be tried for alleged crimes committed against his people.
