Romanians oppose gold mining plan
Residents of Rosia Montana worried over environmental and cultural costs of proposed new mines.

A Canadian owned mining company has said it plans to open four new gold mines in the Romanian village of Rosia Montana that will boost the economy of the east-European country.
However, Rosia Montana Gold Corporation’s project has been met by opposition from the village’s residents who expressed concerns about the environmental and cultural costs.
