Thais divided on new welfare policy
Government introduces measures focused on education and low-interest loans in run-up to general elections.

After a difficult 2010, the Thai government is ringing in the New Year with a series of initiatives for the country’s poor.
The so-called People’s Agenda policies will focus on education and low-interest loans.
With an early election expected, however, some see the plan as nothing more than a vote-buying exercise.
Al Jazeera’s Wayne Hay reports from Bangkok.
