Case raises France veil ban issues
The case of a Frenchwoman on trial for attacking an Arab tourist wearing full-face veil raises questions over new law.

An elderly Frenchwoman is on trial for allegedly attacking an Arab tourist, claiming she was outraged by the woman’s full-face veil.
The incident in February occurred the same time the government of Nicolas Sarkozy was pushing to outlaw the full-face veil, worn by fewer than 2,000 women in France.
Prosecutors have asked for the Frenchwoman to be fined and given a suspended jail sentence.
Al Jazeera’s Jacky Rowland reports from Paris on how the case is highlighting potential problems once the veil ban is implemented next year.
