Kyrgyz pin hopes on Sunday vote

Many hope that parliamentary elections will bring peace and stability to troubled region.

As the Central Asian Republic of Kyrgyzstan prepares for parliamentary elections this Sunday, many still remember the June violence that was unleashed across the country’s capital, Bishkek, most of it targeting areas where members of the ethnic Uzbek community live.

People now simply want peace and stability.

Russia also has always said it wants a crisis-free zone south of its borders, but it also says it believes it has a right to fight for its so-called spheres of influence.

Al Jazeera’s Roza Ibragimova reports.
