The United Nations is hosting a special summit on Sudan this Friday, which will discuss the planned referendum in the country’s south.
Barak Obama, the US president, will be among the leaders attending this meeting in New York.
The referendum will determine whether the south should be independent from the north.
However, with just four months left for the January vote, the UN says preparations are ‘hopelessly’ behind schedule. Voter registration is only expected to start next month.
