Sweden
Sweden took the host baton from their Scandinavian neighbours Finland. All attendance records were smashed at event with previous best sales of 129,000 overtaken. The final tally is set to be around 220,000. [GALLO/GETTY]

France England
The biggest shock of the tournament was the departure of fourth ranked team England in the group stages. They needed a victory over France but as you can see here they didn(***)t quite achieve it. [GALLO/GETTY]

Iceland
The small island nation of Iceland however did manage to progress to the quarter-finals. They qualfied along with Denmark as the top third placed teams but were thrashed 4-0 by hosts Sweden [GALLO/GETTY]
Denmark
Denmark faired a lot better though by knocking out one of the favourites France in the quarters. Their journey came to an end in a semi-final shootout against... [GALLO/GETTY] 
Norway

Sweden
The party for hosts Sweden came to an end in the semi-finals. Some of their players were inconsolable after a 1-0 defeat to Germany, in which they missed several great opportunities to equalise. [GALLO/GETTY]
Germany
Seven-times Euro champions Germany are favourites for the title. They have won the last five European competitions and are ranked second in the world after the USA, nine places above rivals Norway. But in footy you never do know! [GALLO/GETTY]
