The small island nation of Iceland however did manage to progress to the quarter-finals. They qualfied along with Denmark as the top third placed teams but were thrashed 4-0 by hosts Sweden [GALLO/GETTY]

Seven-times Euro champions Germany are favourites for the title. They have won the last five European competitions and are ranked second in the world after the USA, nine places above rivals Norway. But in footy you never do know! [GALLO/GETTY]
