The mass commemorates Christ(***)s Last Supper and controversially, the pope washed the feet of two women who took part in the ritual. In previous years, only men(***)s feet were washed.

On March 29 a court in Bosnia convicted a Montenegrin man, Veselin Vlahovic, of multiple counts of murder, torture, rape and looting during Bosnia(***)s 1992-95 war, and sentenced him to 45 years in prison - the longest sentence ever issued in the country. Judge Zoran Bozic said Vlahovic killed 31 people, raped a number of Bosniak and Croat women, and tortured and robbed non-Serb residents of a Sarajevo suburb while fighting for the Bosnian Serbs.
Demonstrators outside the Supreme Court in Nairobi on March 30 before the ruling on a petition by outgoing Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga challenging election contender Uhuru Kenyatta. The court upheld Kenyatta(***)s victory, unanimously ruling that the election had been fair and credible and that Kenyatta and his running mate had been validly elected.
