Abhisit rejects 30-day deadline
Thai PM says calling for early elections will “solve nothing”.

Abhisit Vejjajjiva, the Thai prime minister, has rejected an offer by anti-government demonstrators to leave their main protest site in Bangkok’s main upmarket shopping district if he dissolves parliament and calls elections within 30 days.

He told Al Jazeera’a Wayne Hay in the Thai capital that such a move was designed only to burnish the protesters’ image and would “solve nothing”.
