Severe weather hits the USA

Many parts of the country are suffering from a barrage of snow, ice, hail and strong winds.

The eastern parts of the US were basking in warm sunshine as the severe weather slowly edged towards it.

Severe thunderstorms brought strong winds, large hail and the risk of tornadoes across much of the Plains on Tuesday, from Texas to Wisconsin.

The severe weather will continue to creep slowly east on Wednesday and Thursday.
