Beijing envoy takes on the Hong Kong protest movement
As protests reappear in Hong Kong, there are accusations that China’s envoy to Hong Kong is exceeding his powers.
Fifteen veteran pro-democracy figures were arrested in Hong Kong last month on charges of unlawful assembly.
The case is drawing attention to the role of Beijing’s new top envoy in the territory, as he tries to stop a resurgent protest movement.
