DR Congo: Rebels pushed from last stronghold in Beni, army says

Army commanders in the Democratic Republic of Congo say they are beating back an armed group that is terrorising the people in the east of the country.

At least a thousand civilians have died in recent months.

But fighters of the Allied Democratic Forces, or ADF, armed with guns and machetes, still have the capacity to attack villages.

That is despite the four-month operation by 22,000 Congolese soldiers.
