UK plans to compensate self-employed workers due to virus hit

Hundreds of thousands of Britons respond to government’s call for front-line volunteers to fight coronavirus spread.

The United Kingdom’s Chancellor of the Exchequer has unveiled a plan aimed at supporting self-employed workers, following last week’s measures promising compensation for the retrenched and $300bn for struggling businesses.

With almost 12,000 people infected from COVID-19 in the UK, hundreds of thousands of volunteers have answered the government’s call to help the National Health Service.
