China steps up threats to Hong Kong protesters

Beijing sees the anti-government movement as a threat to its rule of the territory and is struggling to put an end to it.

While the protests in Hong Kong over the weekend were peaceful, the Chinese government has continued its strategy of threatening the anti-government movement.

One tactic that top Chinese leadership has adopted is misinformation.

Twitter and Facebook have now taken steps to block hundreds of accounts with ties to the Chinese government.
