Europe’s heatwave smashes records on the continent

Thursday has been forecast to be the peak of the latest European heatwave – the second in less than a month.

A heatwave has sent temperatures soaring across Europe, breaking records in France, Britain, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

A new high in Germany has even forced the shutdown of a nuclear reactor.

The increasingly common heatwaves are serving as a reminder of the effect of climate change.
