Nepal court orders reinstatement of pesticide tests on produce

Nepal to resume pesticide testing of fresh produce from India after government stops checks.

Nepal’s Supreme Court has ordered the resumption of testing of pesticides in fruits and vegetables, after the government claimed it had no facilities to do so.

A large proportion of the country’s fresh produce comes from India, which still has more than 30 pesticides in use.

The policy flip-flops have angered consumers in Nepal and have led to plummeting sales.
