Mexico real estate price hikes leave thousands displaced

Mexico’s capital is one of the most expensive cities in Latin America, at least when it comes to the cost of owning a house.

Rising property values are changing the cultural landscape in parts of Mexico City.

Each year, thousands of people are pushed out by the increasing cost of living as wealthier people move in.

With little public housing investment, many of the city’s long-standing residents are being displaced as old buildings give way to fancy apartments.

But in the city’s historic centre, one community is fighting back.
