South Africa elections: ANC faces tough electoral test
The ANC is competing against 47 other parties to win the election, the highest number ever.
South Africans voting in elections have expressed frustration about corruption, unemployment and racial inequalities that persist 25 years after the end of apartheid.
While it’s widely expected that the ruling African National Congress will win, other parties such as the Economic Freedom Fighters, led by Julius Malema, are expected to dent the ANC‘s gains.
As Al Jazeera’s Fahmida Miller reports from Cape Town, these polls are the toughest test yet for the party of late president Nelson Mandela.
