Iraq’s Islamic seminaries revive since Saddam Hussein’s death
During the rule of Saddam Hussein, the seminaries had their powers and number of students limited but now they are witnessing a revival.
Iraq‘s ancient city of Najaf is known for its Howzas or seminaries.
They faced restrictions under the rule of Saddam Hussein, but since his death, there has been a revival.
Al Jazeera’s Dorsa Jabbari met some of the thousands of students who travel to Najaf in the hope of joining the next generation of religious leaders.
