Spain election: Catalan independence dream still alive

Catalans have not forgotten their pro-independence leaders after eighteen months in prison.

Catalan independence leaders have been rallying supporters, some of them from prison, as they urge a new approach, one of dialogue and political legitimacy.

A surge in support for the far right nationalist Vox party risks dragging the entire political landscape to the right, making compromise over Catalan aspirations seem less likely than ever.
