Sri Lanka announces nationwide emergency
Security forces have been conducting raids and making arrests.
Sri Lanka’s government has announced a nationwide emergency beginning at midnight on Monday.
This will give police and the military extensive powers to detain and interrogate anyone without a court order.
This comes after at least 290 people were killed in coordinated attacks across the country on Easter Sunday.
Al Jazeera’s Alexi O’Brien reports.
