Finland election: Social Democrats take early lead

Finland may elect its first left-wing prime minister in two decades.

Climate change was a prominent issue in Finland‘s election where polls have just closed. However, four years of austerity cuts seemed to be a bigger issue for the voters in the “happiest country in the world”.

Favoured by voters worried about spending cuts and the future of the welfare state, the leftist Social Democrats took an early lead.
