Mexico’s president to choose head of force

The opposition fears the president’s will go back on his promise to appoint a civilian as the leader.

There are concerns the Mexican president may backtrack over his promise to appoint a civilian as the head of the new National Guard.

The controversial 50,000 strong National Guard force made up of military personnel and federal police is supposed to fight rising crime.
